Understanding Publisher and Advertiser Roles

In Web3 Traffic Exchange, users typically play dual roles: Publisher and Advertiser. Understanding these roles is crucial for maximizing the benefits of the system.

Publisher Role

As a Publisher, you offer ad space on your web3 property (game, website, dApp, etc.) to display ads from other projects. You earn points for ad interactions and completed challenges.

Key Publisher actions:

  • Create Ad Inventory: Define how offer wall appear on your site.

  • Implement Banner Exchange Code: Use the "Get Snippet Code" button to obtain the necessary code for your site.

  • Earn Points: Accumulate points as visitors interact with ads or complete challenges on your site.

  • Confirm Conversions: Use the API to check completed challenges for your users:

Advertiser Role

As an Advertiser, you create ad campaigns to promote your web3 game across other sites in the Apps Network. You spend points to have your ads displayed and to have users participate in challenges, e.g. join game or play a level.

Key Advertiser actions:

  • Create Ad Campaigns: Design creatives and set up campaigns for your project.

  • Participate in offer wall: Include your game in challenges provided in offer wall to attract new players.

  • Define and report game challenges: Define what constitutes a completed challenge in your game (e.g., reaching a certain level, achieving a specific score) and call the API to report when a user completes these challenges.

  • Spend Points: Your earned points are deducted for ad clicks and when users complete challenges in your game.

  • Manage Campaigns: Monitor performance and adjust your campaigns as needed.

Points are spent on both ad interactions and completed game challenges, creating a comprehensive advertising ecosystem.

Most users will engage in both publisher and advertiser roles, creating a balanced ecosystem where you earn points by publishing ads and challenges, and spend those points to promote your own project.

Next Steps

After connecting your wallet, you'll see the examples of snippets code in the Snippets interface. It is crucial for Publishers to obtain the necessary code to display ads on their websites. In the following sections, we'll dive deeper into how to use this feature.
